Chinese language After school program 2022

Introduction

Many researchers found that most parents believed that children pick up new languages easily and quickly through play, while an adult requires much effort and study.

There are various benefits of learning a second language:

1. Bilingualism benefits health since it is proven can slow down the onset of dementia.

2. Multilingualism may be linked to more competitiveness in education and career development.

3. Learning languages expand our worldviews and helps us understand the context of a culture.

This program was part of the Community Language program supported by Horizon Power.

HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) Tutoring class

Introduction

HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi), translated as the Chinese Proficiency Test, is the standardised Chinese language proficiency test in Mainland China for non-native speakers.

We provide tutoring services from HSK Level 1 to HSK Level 3 in the Pilbara Universities Centre, assisting the students who plan to sit in the HSK exam or want to learn Chinese Mandarin step by step.

The tutor will go through the textbook with students, and they will get opportunities to practice on their workbooks outside the classes.

Community language program

Introduction

Thanks to the CITIC Pacific Mining community grant for supporting our Term 2 Learning Mandarin and Chinese Culture Program. We greatly appreciate Horizon Power for supporting our Community Language Program for the rest of 2022.

The Community Language Program aims to boost students' competitiveness in multilingual communication and provides a platform for those who already know a second language to practice. Besides learning conversational skills, students will learn the culture and tourism information. By learning a second language and diverse culture, students will understand and see a culture with different views.

This program includes conversation and literacy skills, and life practice. There will be one in-class learning with the instructor and fortnightly extracurricular activities outside the class. This program will run until the end of school term 4, ensuring the students have sufficient time to learn the language skills.
